Strange DNS Issue - cloudflare reporting host outage even though host is accessible/normal

Over the weekend, Cloudflare servers said that our website (hosted on Godaddy) was down, however when we contacted Godaddy, they confirmed that the site was up and that it was an issue with Cloudflare.

What we ended up doing was switching nameservers to godaddy’s and that resolved the situation. We’re looking to understand the cause for this issue, as it was only on one domain. Anyone here have this happen before to them or know what the problem could have been? We have not yet switched back to cloudflare DNS for that domain.

Pressing “Pause Cloudflare” would have been better as you wouldn’t have needed to change nameservers.

What is the website?

Hi @redpointspeaks

Cloudflare will be running checks to/on your DNS records several times a day, should it happen for any reason that Cloudflare can’t see these records, then it will send a website down alert.

But your website can/could still be up and running, we were just not able to reach the DNS records during the check.
