SRV Records: Don't know the format for minecraft servers

What is the name of the domain?

play.voiding.org

What is the issue you’re encountering

DNS not connecting due to possible SRV Record issues.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I’ve spoken to my registrar (GoDaddy) and my provider (Pebblehost). They have advised me to talk to Cloudflare as the format they guide me to do domains may have changed since the guide was made. SRV Record*

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

What is the format for SRV records for Minecraft servers?

Currently, “play.voiding.org” is configured to point directly towards a server on OVH’s network.

The SRV record on “_minecraft._tcp.play.voiding.org” is telling the world, that the Minecraft server is available on “play.voiding.org”, port “25589”.

If it is correct to steer traffic towards port 25589 on that OVH server, then the SRV record is set up correctly, for play.voiding.org, as it is right now.

However, if you also wish people to be able to connect using the naked domain (e.g. alone using “voiding.org”), then you will also need to create another SRV record, on “_minecraft._tcp.voiding.org”, with the exact same data.

If the SRV record doesn’t work for you, with “play.voiding.org” and port 25589, in the state of the current set up, then the problem isn’t with your DNS (or on Cloudflare), but will be something you will need to troubleshoot on your Minecraft server.
