Squarespace DNS Issue

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

I’m attempting to set the new site live, but one of the CNAME items aren’t clearing, stating record not found.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

There doesn’t seem to be a www record in your Cloudflare DNS…

If you have entered it, can you show a screenshot. Make sure it is set to “DNS only” and not “Proxied”.

Thank you for the quick response. Here’s a screenshot of the Cloudflare window:

You need to edit the first CNAME so the name is www instead of your domain name.

I went in and updated to ‘www’ and it automatically fills in with the URL.

Is there an issue with having 2 CNAMEs? I’m afraid if I delete ‘verify.squarespace.com’ content so there aren’t duplicate CNAMES, it will be another 72 hours before I can launch. Client is pushing to launch today.

I’m assuming I need to keep it until this shows as DNS verified?

You can’t have CNAMEs for a hostname that exists with another record type. The Cloudflare dashboard won’t allow you to create one that conflicts.

www won’t resolve if you don’t create a record for it.

Okay, so I removed the @ from the root (www), and that seems to have fixed it and now the site is showing as live, but not yet secure. Once the domain is verified by Squarespace, I think I can remove that CNAME - is that correct?

The once red message in Squarespace is now green. Will I need to check back 24-72 hours to see if the SSL certificate is live?

If you want www to resolve, you need to leave it in place.
