I have a website hosted in Johannesburg south africa. NiteCoreSA.co.za and I am ONLY providing services to South Africans. The main reason I have CF is to block all countries except RSA and USA.
I enabled CF free and my site seems very slow, I then enabled ARGO and there was an improovement in speed. In terms of where CF have servers and with which package they are active, please advise for my use case if CF is recommended as opposed to just direct hosting. Kind regards Louis
Hi there,
Argo Smart-routing is meant to help a request find the fastest route from the Cloudflare datacenter to your origin web server
If you host your origin web server in South Africa - and you only care about traffic from the local Cloudflare datacenters then, you may not get a lot of benefit from Argo - as it is likely you are already taking the fastest available route from our datacenters in South Africa to your origin and there is less chance of their being any improvement added here.
If you care about traffic from US reaching your origin in South Africa, Argo would be more beneficially here, or if some of your South Africa traffic is routed to Cloudflare datacenters outside of South Africa (eg. when our SA datacenters are re-routed) - Argo may help speed up getting the request to the origin.
I think you may need to do some analysis in your analytics to understand what percentage of traffic is routed processed through Cloudflare datacenters outside of South Africa to understand how much it would benefit here.
Hope this helps!
