Site getting rate limited with "Rate Limiting" disabled

Hi,

after a few consecutive POST requests (~10) to one of our sites we receive a 429 response from CF. I checked the settings “Rate Limiting” is disabled and we don’t have any firewall or app rules enabled.

The site is a Wordpress site and the requests that get blocked are POST requests to the admin-ajax.php

Is there anything I’m missing or could this be and error with CF?

Have you tried testing this with Cloudflare disabled to see what the wordpress site returns on it’s own?

With CF paused completely and ignoring the SSL error, the POST request doesn’t get rate limited.

The response body of the 429 is the typical rate limiting error:

do you have any suggestions what could cause the rate limiting? This is really impacting our site.
