For some reason the site does not work when I point the DNS to CF. At first I didn’t believe it would be the fault of CF but when I pointed the domain to the host then the site was working fine. Now I pointed it back to CF and it getting the errors again (not all the time and mainly when I am in the back end of wordpress.
Do you have a valid SSL certificate on your server? If not, configure one and your site might just work
Whats the domain?
On your server? Not Cloudflare, SSL on Cloudflare usually is fine.
Your site loads fine for me
What exactly is the issue on your end?
Alright, SSL on your server seems alright. Whats your encryption mode on Cloudflare?
A 520 is covered at Community Tip - Fixing Error 520: Web server is returning an unknown error. With a private URL it will be a bit difficult to debug, would you have a public URL?
At https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/ssl-tls
Maybe some rate limiting on your host’s side? Keep in mind, all requests come from the same set of Cloudflare addresses, so they might limit this then, but that’s something only your host can say.
my encryption mode is Full
Will check that with the host now and let you know
Full strict would be better (as that actively validates the certificate) but even with Full we should be able to rule out any obscure HTTP/HTTPS issues.
My best guess at this point would be some rate limiting on your host’s side. You could also open a support ticket, maybe they can shed some light as to what your server exactly returns when there is a 520.
Thanks, will check with the host.
Also, thought getting help via here was the only way to contact support. How to open a ticket?
Awesome, thanks!
