Setup a subdomain which points to a virtual machine on Azure Cloud

What is the name of the domain?

My domain contents are managed via Wix (A record points to 185.230.xxx.xxx for example.com). Subdomain should point to a new virtual machine in Azure Cloud (A record points to 20.xxx.xxx.xxx for sub.example.com.

What is the issue you’re encountering

Once I setup two A records as above, my primary domain name does not resolve (i.e. cannot access my domain). Am I allowed to create such A records?

There’s no problem creating subdomain DNS records in your Cloudflare DNS. If you can give the real domain/subdomains and show a screenshot of your Cloudflare DNS it will be easier to see what is going on.
