Server Wait time

Hi there was hoping some friendly samaritan could help me with speed optimization on my site which I’m really struggling to understand!
Pingdom is saying my server wait time is over 3s which seems really long.
I’ve activated Gzip and set up Cloudflare on my site but still getting a really long server wait time:


Can anyone suggest any improvements?

Cloudflare can’t speed up a slow server’s TTFB (Time To First Byte). Was your wait time long before you added the site to Cloudflare?
