Server IP address can’t be found on new domain

What is the name of the domain?

Finkyproductions.com

What is the issue you’re encountering

New domain gets error message when trying to visit it.

When you see the error DNS PROBE FINISHED NXDOMAIN, it means a domain cannot be resolved because of an issue with the DNS servers, the domain name is newly registered, or the domain is not yet registered at all. First verify the domain is pointed to Cloudflare name servers. If not, contact your domain registrar and ask that they point the domain to your Cloudflare nameservers and wait an appropriate amount of time for DNS propagation to take effect.

If you’re still seeing issues after name server propagation takes effect, review other successful troubleshooting suggestions in this Community Tip. Let us know if you continue to see issues after trying these tips, we’re happy to help further.

Thanks so much for the reply and the information. But I purchased the domain through Cloudflare. Shouldn’t they have set everything up when the domain was purchased?

Cloudflare can’t know where you will hosting your web content or email when you buy a domain. Other than the optional Cloudflare Pages and mail forwarding, which you have to configure, it doesn’t offer those services itself.

Thanks so much for the reply. But shouldn’t it have a landing page or something other than a DNS error?

Also, I set up a simple forwarding per your previous instructions. But it doesn’t seem to be forwarding to the other site.

Thanks for any help.

You can always create and host a landing page if you want one.

I don’t see any instructions regarding forwarding in this thread, so you’ll have to be more specific.

I think it would be easiest if you just explained what you want to use the domain for, before we get into the specifics of how to do something.

Thanks so much for the assistance. Yea, the forwarding query was in a separate discussion. I set it up according to the instructions given to me.

I really just want this domain permanently forwarded to another website. It’s just a vanity domain that I purchased to hold my name, but want it forwarded to my true website.

Thanks so much for any help.

I have found this here:

It does not look like you have followed the instructions about creating an AAAA record yet.

When you say forward, do you mean that when someone opens Finkyproductions.com, the address in the address bar changes to another address, or should your website open with this address in the address bar?

It honestly doesn’t matter to me whether it’s masked or not. It can just forward and change to the other website address.

Then you need to follow the instructions already given to you by @sjr. You have not created the AAAA record yet.

Thanks, I thought I followed all directions by setting up a single redirect, and creating a rule to “Redirect to a different domain”. I don’t know where to create a AAAA record. My apologies if I’m being basic lol, but I’ve never had to go through this process before. All domains I’ve purchased thru GoDaddy, it’s a simple setup process for forwarding.

You can create the record here: https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns/records

Create an AAAA record with name @ and value 100::

Thank you SO MUCH for the assistance, that worked! Greatly appreciate it.
