BSNL (AS9829) peers at NIXI Chennai PeeringDB
Cloudflare (13335) peers at Nxtra Data Chennai PeeringDB

They both peer at DE-CIX Mumbai PeeringDB so that’s what you see in the maps as expected.

https://sg-pub.ripe.net/emile/ixp-country-jedi/latest/IN/rttmesh/index.html shows lots of orange and red for AS9829. Perhaps worth reporting that to them over at https://www.bsnl.co.in/opencms/bsnl/BSNL/services/landline/helpdesk.html

But i am also tested with network utilities of perfops. that also gives 25+ms and that’s not my ISP

So why i got doubt that Chennai PoP working or not
Thanks for your conformation  , i will contact my ISP Soon as possible

So i need to request my isp to directly peer with Cloudflare? but do they do? Oh

Oh no. today it’s routing to Singapore :frowning:

it increasing ping again by 20% :frowning:

@amayorga Why this happening :frowning: Routing to Singapore is slower then Mumbai.

Help me. my ping keeps on increasing today and websites taking years to load :frowning:

:frowning:

Off-Topic: I’ve got fiber, 1GB simultaneous. On the edge of a mountainside forest thanks to Vermont.

Again the question would be for BSNL there.

I’ve inspected the reverse network path to 218.248.57.214 from both MAA:

As you can see the route is much less of a winding path and seems to stay within India AFAICT.

Perhaps worth reporting that to them as well over at https://www.bsnl.co.in/opencms/bsnl/BSNL/services/landline/helpdesk.html

PerfOps seems to use NetActuate (AS36236) which peers at Netmagic Chennai PeeringDB

Thanks for your good explanation and my isp said to try 1.1.1.1 for Families for testing . so i am tested that

1.1.1.1 for Families is faster a bit then 1.1.1.1 . hmm

Ah 1.1.1.1 resolving in Singapore and 1.0.0.1 on Mumbai itself @amayorga

Can you explain how this happening ?

i think my ISP need to learn how to handle Anycast routings to match with Cloudflare

ISPs make routing, peering and partnering decisions for a variety of reasons. Speed is only one of the reasons. The Internet is a loosely organized collective (at best). Sub-optimal routing is not uncommon. The service itself is working. Peering and routing can and will change over time due to decisions of many corporate actors and network operators. That your connection isn’t to the closest colo geographically isn’t an issue, it is the nature of the internet.

So i need to use 1.0.0.1 as primary and 1.1.1.1 as secondary DNS. Do i am Right?

Started Contacting with NIXI. Because they only can fix this problem and my isp can’t (Said by my isp)

Cloudflare Chennai PoP did not peered with Major Internet Exchanges (IX) Like Tata communications Chennai, DE-CIX Chennai, Extreme IX Chennai, NiXi Chennai

After a Lot of investigation, Internet exchanges said that Cloudflare did not peered with us (Said by Tata communications Chennai)

Cloudflare just peered with Nxtra Data Chennai but Tata communications Chennai, DE-CIX Chennai, Extreme IX Chennai Refused to peer with Nxtra Data Chennai, Because there Port speed is not enough for this major Internet Exchanges (IX)

Cloudflare peers at Tata communications Mumbai, DE-CIX Mumbai, Extreme IX Mumbai (Cloudflare peers with Internet exchanges in Mumbai and Cloudflare not even thinking about Chennai users

So that customers from chennai getting 40-50ms in cloudflare , if you peer with Tata communications Chennai then it will decrease as 15-20ms for almost every chennai customers

Please take this case as Peering request case and peer with Tata communications Chennai (if possible)

I’m Sorry incase if i said something wrong here.

Cloudflare please peer with Tata communications on Cloudflare Chennai PoP

Don’t close my case because now i got some proof and it don’t have any relationship with Routing issues on 1.1.1.1 from Chennai,India - #18 by AdineTech

@sdayman Don’t close topic please

Some MVP’s Closing case without helping and even without a reply. i don’t know why they are rude with Cloudflare customers :frowning:

Good conversation on peering here, Peering - Why don't I reach the closest datacenter to me?
