Routing for a Hungarian site goes through the USA from Telekom.hu

We are proxying a site hosted in Budapest, Hungary through Cloudflare DNS, but it’s loading extremely slow lately from the largest Hungarian ISP, Telekom. We checked the site with traceroute and it goes through 14-15 hops to the USA (and back to the origin server ofcourse), with packet delays of 200msec to the proxy:

Note the above IPs are different for the same website, but tracerouting the same IP produces the same result as well.

It seems there is a peering problem between Cloudflare and Telekom Hungary, even though both are members of BIX (Budapest Internet eXchange), the Hungarian peering provider.

We are unable to contact Cloudflare directly, what are the steps we can take?

The only known “fix” so far is to enable Cloudflare Pro plan.
