Nameservers

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Look up pattersonvetrichmond.com within Google. The website will show up and is navigable. The issue is this business and website account have been closed down completely, but the site seems to be cached by the Cloudflare system.

Ask: please remove the DNS information for pattersonvetrichmond.com from the Cloudflare setup.

Screenshot of the error

This isn’t a cache issue (the homepage isn’t cached by Cloudflare anyway). The Cloudflare account with this domain is pointing to some hosting that is active.

If this is your domain, the simplest thing to do is remove the Cloudflare nameservers from the domain registrar (Network Solutions).

Cool. Let me consult with the NS people… I don’t have access to any logins or users, so this is a request to cease service or at least point to their own servers… TBD

Are you still the registrant of the domain in question?

I don’t have access to Cloudflare or Network Solutions. I’m seeking to rectify the mess the previous admins left behind, with regard to the website hosting, domain name and how that shows up in the Google index.

My ultimate goal is to remove all references of pattersonvetrichmond.com, since the business was bought out and shut down by my client (another vet clinic). In short, pattersonvetrichmond does not exist and needs to be removed from the Google and any other service claiming this business.

That’s the story,

I made some progress with the NS peoples. They are adding me as a technical contact to the account (pending validation of my credentials), so that I can start shutting this thing down. Need to wait 2 days for confirmation…

So you are associated with the registrant of the domain. That’s good. It means that you should be able to straighten things out.

Often times we see topics here where the domain has lapsed and been picked up by an unrelated third-party who puts an old copy of the site back online. There is little that the former registrant can do to remedy that scenario. Keeping the domain registration is an inexpensive means to prevent such an occurrence.

I wish you success in your endeavor.
