Remove a loadbalancer makes website impossible to access

I had a Pro plan with a load balancer.

I recently downgraded to the Free tier, because the website is low traffic and I don’t need a load balancer.

The DNS settings in the app show the load balancer, but the load balancer doesn’t exist.

I can’t remove it from the DNS, and I can’t change any load balancer settings as I don’t have it enabled!

Please help

Hi there,

It seems like there might be a lingering DNS record from your previous load balancer setup. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Cloudflare dashboard.
  2. Go to the DNS settings for your website.
  3. Look for any DNS records related to the load balancer (usually A, AAAA, or CNAME records with the name of your website).
  4. Delete any records associated with the load balancer.
  5. If you cannot delete them, contact Cloudflare support for assistance as there may be a residual configuration on their end.

Remember to add the correct DNS records to point to your website’s server after removing the load balancer records.
