So it’s not that straight forward. My predecessor left the organisation but his account is locked by MFA. I have access to the account, password etc just not his phone.

I just want to take over the account; how do I do that?

Without being able to login, you cannot. You’d need to add the domain to the account you are using here and contact the domain registrar asking them to change the nameservers.

whois shows godaddy as the registrar. When you ask them to change the nameservers, you need to also ask them to remove the icann holds on the domain as those will prevent the nameserver change from going through.

I don’t have access to the existing account but wanted to take up the existing contract and continue paying it.

Is there a way I can prove I am the existing owner of the domain and take over the contract?

Can you open a ticket from the email that owns the account and copy the email you are using here? If you can share your ticket number we’ll flag it for the Support team to see if they can assist you. We don’t have access to account details here on the Community in order to assist.

I can get in the email, but not into the cloudflare account as it’s locked with MFA, which is why I’m stuck at the moment. Can’t get into cloudflare to pay the bill, can’t get support to talk with me because of the free account that I set up, then can’t pay to upgrade the account because it’s been taken by another user, then rinse and repeat again…
