Redirected Domain Doesn't Redirect Anymore

What is the name of the domain?

saintshistory.com

What is the issue you’re encountering

Redirected Domain Stopped Redirecting When I Changed Registrars.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Contacted the Registrar. They claim Cloudflare is blocking the Redirct.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS not responding/updating

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Just try to go to https://saintshistory.com

No Cloudflare nameservers are resolving for your domain currently and it seems your domain has never used Cloudflare according to securitytrails.com. a2hosting.com nameservers used up to 2024-09-08 use Cloudflare (no nameservers since), but your domain hasn’t been active on Cloudflare.

If you have just added your site to Cloudflare then ensure you have set the correct 2 nameservers as your registrar, spelled the domain correctly, and have selected a plan (even if free).

Thanks for the reply.
But I’ll confess I’m a little confused.
This domain had always been registered at GoDaddy using the A2 nameservers and redirected to https://nosaintshistory.com. The redirection was set up in my webhost’s Cpanel and I never had a problem. Earlier this year I enabled Cloudflare and changed the nameservers at GoDaddy to the Cloudflare nameserver but the redirection was still set up A2’s Cpanel. Again everything worked fine until I switched from GoDaddy to another domain registrar. Other than the registrar, nothing has changed. The nameservers listed at GoDaddy were pointed at Cloudflare and they are still pointed at Cloudflare with the new Registrar.
Do I have to add the redirected domain to the list of domains I currently have at Cloudflare?

The history is here…

Can you show a full screenshot of your Cloudflare DNS page?

Try enabling Cloudflare with a new account.

I already have Cloudflare enabled on the Domain that saintshistory.com is pointing to. Do you mean add saintshistory.com to Cloudflare?

Of what Domain? Saintshistory.com? I have never had Cloudflare enabled for that but I’m pretty sure I had it pointed at the Cloudflare nameservers.
And what exactly is the screenshot? the name servers of saintshistory.com?

If I read that correctly, you are using cf nameservers for a domain not using cloudflare, that leaves the domain vulnerable.

That domain shows as pending in your account, added recently. whois returns

Name Server: clayton.ns.cloudflare.com
Name Server: irena.ns.cloudflare.com

But the nameservers should be

leonard.ns.cloudflare.com
ryleigh.ns.cloudflare.com

Those are the ones shown on https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns

Shows as having

Name Server: IRENA.NS.CLOUDFLARE.COM
Name Server: CLAYTON.NS.CLOUDFLARE.COM

Those are the ones shown on https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns for that domain.

Both show as porkbun with updates last month.

You need to change the ns at porkbun for saintshistory.com to

NS	leonard.ns.cloudflare.com
NS	ryleigh.ns.cloudflare.com

and remove any others. Once that is active in your account, you can recreate the redirect rule.

Yes, I started to add it to Cloudflare and never finished when I started to get confused.

So you’re saying that just redirecting the domain isn’t enough? I need to add the redirected domain to Cloudflare as well?

Don’t use cf nameservers for domains that are not on cloudflare.

The domain you are directing to does not need to be using cf, but it cannot use cf nameservers if it does not. In that case, contact porkbun and ask them to set the ns to their defaults.

Ok the redirect rule was originally at my web host - and was working fine until just recently. Do i need to change anything?

  1. If you want to add saintshistory.com to your account and set a redirect to nosaintshistory.com in cloudflare, you need to change the nameservers at porkbun to
leonard.ns.cloudflare.com
ryleigh.ns.cloudflare.com

After the site is active in your account, set up a redirect rule in the cloudflare dash to point to nosaintshistory.com. Do that here, https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/rules/redirect-rules

  1. If you do not want to use cloudflare for saintshistory.com, you need to change the nameservers at porkbun to whatever they offer as default. Not cloudflare.

Ok. Let me try to tend to what you have shared with me. I do appreciate your help but I am more than a little confused.
I think I’m going to just put the nameservers back to the A2 nameservers and go from there.
But Thank You for your help.
