When i used cpanel i could do so my website url would show api.example.com and it will go into a folder called api
I tried the redirect but it just changed my url to example.com/api and i dont want that.
I have added A | api | ip | Auto . Record it works but does not go inside api folder.
English is not my native language so bear with my spelling
Page Rules would still send a user to the subdirectory.
To get the /api subdirectory to show up on the subdomain has to be done at the server. The Apache or NGINX conf file needs to set up that subdomain and pull content from the /api directory.
That was my understanding of what the OP asked for.
