Redirect Subdomain to External URL

I want to redirect a subdomain (promo.idesignnj.com) to an external site (sample.otherURL.com). I have attempted to do this with the rules using a permanent 301 redirect but the redirect is showing that the page will not load. What am I doing wrong?

This site can’t be reached

You need to create a DNS record for promo.idesignnj.com and make it :orange:. This can be an A, AAAA or CNAME record with essentially any value. I usually create a AAAA record with value 100::, but an A record set to 192.0.2.1 would work also.

Once you create the DNS entry, the redirect will work:

% curl --connect-to ::104.18.123.96 --silent --dump-header - https://promo.idesignnj.com | egrep -i 'HTTP/|location'
HTTP/2 301
location: https://idesignnj.dcpromosite.com

Thanks. I was just checkout out the other posts and saw how to do it with a CNAME update. Looks like it’s working now. I appreciate the quick response.
