Redirect issue with newly registered domain

I registered new domain let’s say example1.com and want it to redirect to example.com/whatever.
Actually I’ve inspected similar topics and I setup “Redirect rules” and tried “Page rules” as well. Domain has no any DNS records and tools give me err like this RR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED.

Should I add any DNS record to make it work and if yes what exactly?

Yes, you need a DNS record so the domain resolves and requests go to Cloudflare.

For domains/subdomains that only redirect and have no origin server, use a proxied dummy value of A 192.0.2.1 or AAAA 100::.
