What is the issue you’re encountering

I have a domain X and another domain Y, I want to redirect all people that try to acess domain X via webbrowser to domain Y. I also have domain X as a custom domain in office365, I just want to redirect browser traffic but not email. Does the template “Redirect to a Different Domain” have this behavior?

Yes. Redirects work on HTTP requests so don’t affect email.
