We just got one for a domain as well. We have 57 sites on Cloudflare but only one is flagged. I don’t even see any indication of this flag when I’m logged into Cloudflare so it’s a little weird. I’ve confirmed that the website isn’t compromised so that’s not the issue.

I’m going to reply to the email and see if I can get more details.

Domain categorization hasn’t been added into the Cloudflare dashboard (yet), so it wouldn’t appear there. It was real.

We just got the same message. But we do not send any spam and so on.

  1. What could be the reason for that?
  2. What steps to take to restore domain status?
  3. What are the consequences?

I can confirm this is NOT a phishing email. It is authentic.

Last night I received the same message about a domain that was hosted on a server that had been rooted maybe 6-7 years ago so I was sketchy about it. But with it passing all of the smell tests and appearing to be genuine, I responded. An extremely unhealthy dose of skepticism/second guessing later, and I reached out to Cloudflare support who, implied it may be genuine, then promptly passed it to their Trust and Safety team. They confirmed it was genuine but that they were “working to improve this process.”

It appears this was just sent in error. No worries. It happens.

I fully do not understand what this may be related to. In this regard, I have the following questions

  1. What could be the reason for that? We are related with any kind of spam.
  2. What steps to take to restore domain status? Except to following the link provided in the letter.
  3. What are the consequences and how serious is it?
