RDP over Cloudflare Tunnel using warp - Multiple Disconnects throughout the day

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

User connects in remotely to their computer in the office using RDP. Its routing directly to the work machine via a cloudflare tunnel. Multiple times a day she gets disconnected from the RDP session for a couple seconds and then it reconnects.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I’ve verified the user is not losing network on her side and there aren’t any signs of issues (that I can tell) on her home network. I updated warp to make sure it was running on the newest version but that did not change anything. Other than that I’m not sure what to really look at or where to begin troubleshooting. I do see some errors in the logs around the times it happens about DNS resolution but I don’t know for sure that its related.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Unknown as its inconsistent when it happens.

I could confirm same happend to me, however was not related to the Cloudflare nor cloudflared tunnel, neither the Spectrum feature, rather to the Fortinet router and it’s VPN filter/traffic was stuttering always. My best guess was possibly due to the working on an island and the ISP via the radio tower :man_shrugging:

Other than that, possibly there is a way to configure the session lifetime for the RDP as well, if the user is under the AD.

Interesting - thanks for the input. The brief troubleshooting I’ve done didn’t show any issues with the users local network but it is a home setup so its certainly possible there is something there acting up.

Welp - after some more testing seems like the issues have nothing to do with cloudflare afterall. I haven’t nailed down the issue yet but its looking like its just ISP’s being ISP’s.
