What is the issue you’re encountering
different issues on different sites - and only very recent
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
We manage quite a number of wordpress websites for clients and for several years have had Cloudflare integrated on almost all of them. Over the past 1-2 months we’ve noticed CF making more changes to their interface, and some options have been removed. Obviously they’re making changes to their network and services.
Over this same time, we’ve had to remove CF from a few sites - the most recent being yesterday - due to completely random and different issues happening that have no other explanation. All we know is when we remove CF, suddenly all is fine. The most recent issue was a site giving a 502 Gateway Timeout on only one single page - a Thank You page after a form was submitted. The server was never even receiving the request and was a-ok - it was just an instant 502 being sent to users. Pausing CF made the page come up fine again.
We’ve worked with CF for years now and many of its settings and caches of all sorts and know them well. And we know how to troubleshoot sites and servers.
Something is apparently going on with CF recently, though.
One site was an oddity, but we’re seeing a concerning pattern emerge if this continues.
Is anyone else noticing anything?

The first 502 is from cloudflare, the second if from your origin and can be difficult to track.
More details, the 502/504 errors are caused by a problem connecting to an upstream server - meaning your server is trying to initiate a process and this fails to work as expected or times out. In most cases of 502 / 504 errors, back-end servers are not communicating correctly. Correct. And we’ve seen both of those errors before for different reasons.
I had never seen this one before. It was just a sentence of plain black text, maybe 14px, in the upper left of an otherwise white page - see attached. And no log of the page request anywhere error or otherwise.
I’d have to look back in logs from the past ~45 days what the other two instances were, but I don’t think they were gateway timeouts. Something else, like I said, just inexplicable and recent.

Nor have I, I’ll ask around for ideas. Did you open a case on that one? (No need to do so if not, just curious to see if I can attach this topic to that case)

We did not open a case for any of them so far.
None have been big critical site-wide issues, just real nuisances that take time to troubleshoot, only to find there’s nothing on our end that’s a problem.
I’m hoping whatever is going on doesn’t keep happening to more sites.
And I’m wanting to put this out there to see if anyone else is noticing the same thing happening.
