R2 custom domain status: unknown

Hi when setting my custom domain on my R2 bucket, the status just shows as unknown. I am using cdn.[domain].com, NOT the apex, which has FULL DNS setup with Cloudflare. The “cdn” subdomain had no prior DNS record set before using the R2 dashboard.

This is what I see on the cdn.[domain].com index page:

I believe this is a backend bug on Cloudflare’s side… this is what I see from the Network tab on my browser:

I have already tried each of these options, to no avail…

Did you create the DNS record manually or was it created automatically after you added the domain to your bucket?

Could you also share the actual domain so we can see if there are any problems with it?

It was created automatically after I added the subdomain to the bucket. Here is my domain.

And the R2 bucket and your domain are in the same Cloudflare account?

Hi there,

Your certificate for cdn. is issued by Let’s Encrypt, and they impose a rate limit on certificate issuance per hostname. :Rate Limits - Let's Encrypt

Since this hostname has been added so many times in sequence, they’re currently rate limiting it:

The authority has rate limited these domains. Please wait for the rate limit to expire (07 Mar 24 17:21 UTC) or try another authority.
too many certificates (5) already issued for this exact set of domains in the last 168 hours: cdn.polytoria.com

The certificate has even been correctly issued twice before, so for now my advice is that you should wait and leave the hostname as is while the certificate issued again.

@mcorreia Hey I tried setting up the custom domain again after the rate limit date you sent, but it’s still not working… same Unknown status and 1014 error on the website.
