Questions about upgrading to Business or Pro Plan

Hi. We are ready to upgrade to a paid plan but have a few questions we’re hoping to get answered.

  1. If we use the universal SSL certificate, what information is displayed in the certificate viewer? Is it Cloudflare info?

  2. Is the cname setup feature required if we want to use a custom SSL certificate?

  3. Does Cloudflare still provide the cname setup feature for the Pro plan if we use Cloudflare to host our DNS? In the past that was offered, but has that been discontinued?

Welcome to the community!

  1. The information shown in the certificate is the same as in the free plan. The only thing is that the DigiCert (soon to be deprecated) and the Let’s Encrypt CA also issue an RSA certificate, apart from the regular ECDSA one. GTS doesn’t currently have an ECDSA certificate chain publicly available.
  2. No, it isn’t.
  3. CNAME setup afaik is only available in Business and higher plans. You can also get a CNAME setup from Cloudflare partners.

Thanks Lumito! So apparently Cloudflare does not support the use of a custom SSL cert for Pro plan users? Last year I thought I heard that if we moved our DNS to Cloudflare they would allow us to use a custom SSL with the Pro plan. Did that change, or was I misinformed last year? :slight_smile:

I’ve been using Cloudflare for +2 years, and afaik custom ssl certificates were only available for Business or higher customers.
