What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
Hello,
We are developing software and providing it to our customers through our own servers. For each customer, we create a site via Plesk Panel and install our software on it. However, when customers directly point their domain names to our designated DNS addresses, our server’s IP address becomes visible. This makes us vulnerable to Layer 4 DDoS attacks.
We have tried using different intermediary providers, hosting services, or software solutions, but none have provided the same level of flexibility as our current setup. To solve this issue, we plan to use the Cloudflare API to add the customer’s domain to our own Cloudflare account when they subscribe to our software. We will then provide the Cloudflare-assigned DNS addresses to the customer.
In theory, I don’t think this will cause any technical issues, but does having our customers’ domain names in our Cloudflare account violate any of Cloudflare’s policies? I want to clarify that this process is entirely legal and does not involve any illegal activities. However, if in the future, our customers experience service interruptions, inadequate support, or poor service quality while providing services to their own customers through our software, could this lead to any issues with Cloudflare?
I would appreciate your insights on this matter.
Thank you.
