I have a question regarding Cloudflare Registrar’s domain life cycle. One of my domains expired on 28th May 2022, yet it still appears under my account in “Manage Domains” as “Expired - suspended”.
On top of that, oddly enough, the domain has been renewed by Cloudflare to 28th May 2023.
Does anyone know when would that domain be completely removed from my account?
Besides that, I also came across a weird issue - although the domain is suspended, I can still manage it like it was not
As I don’t plan to use that domain anymore, I don’t have a site linked to that domain from Cloudflare Registrar (I was just waiting for its expiration and removal), so technically it does not have any DNS zone.
Yet I decided to do an experiment and added one just today. It seems that I am still able to manage the domain just like it wasn’t expired at all. Is this what’s supposed to happen?
Day 1 - 30: Grace Period (domain resolves normally).
Day 31 - 40: Suspension Period (domains resolves to suspension page).
Day 41 - 70: Redemption Period.
Day 71 - 75: Pending Delete Period.
Cloudflare will not renew an expired domain, I believe you are looking to the Registry expiration date which is different to the Registrar (Cloudflare) expiration date, when a domain expires usually the Registry expiration date is extended but if domain is not renewed it will be deleted.
Domain should be released after 75 days but it is up to the Registry when it will actually be released so if you want to keep the domain you would have to check daily and try to register it once it is released by the Registry.
Thanks for the information. I haven’t found that one.
But in that case the domain should be already deleted (its been 109 days since its Cloudflare expiration) and it isn’t + it resolves correctly like it wasnt suspended, which appears to be an issue?
