What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering
“Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner”" error.
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
I have moved my email to a Synology MailPlus server located at another location. My have procured a Static IP for the connection. I am recieving a “Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner”" error.
In Australia, Hosting companies that look after DNS, do not allow you to alter or add PTR Records.
If I move my DNS to Cloudflare, can I add PTR Records here?
The PTR record is managed by the company that owns the IP address.
You need to check their menu for any options to change the PTR.
Cloudflare details state that you can add the PTR here.
I already checked, they wont touch it in australia. ISP’s do not offer that option.
Yes, but to use that, you need to be able to change the nameservers for the reverse zone (the IP address, not your domain), which you won’t be able to unless you own a whole /24
then how the ■■■■ do people do this in Australia, as many companies run their own email?
I have spent a whole day on the phone and NO one does it.
If i Relay my sends through a service like SMTP2Go, does this get around this issue?
the whole point I brought my mail home was to save money from Microsoft.
now it seems like it was a waste of time.
I’m not familiar with the Australian market. Here, it’s common practice that you can change your PTR records on business plans, but it’s not available on private plans.
You either find an ISP that allows you to set PTR records, or you buy/rent your own IP block.
Tbh, running your own mail server is a hobby, not a productive use of your time.
If you get a cheap relay, sure, that solves your reverse DNS problem, but you will then probably share an IP with a lot of spammers.
ok… then the Relay option is possible. I will run some tests. SMTP2GO is a US based company and they dont have issues with spammers.
A PTR record must match your Synology MailPlus server’s IP to avoid email rejection. Contact your ISP to set the correct PTR record for your mail server’s IP.
