Prevent Hot Linking of Specific URLs?

Thanks for looking. I host HTML5 games embedded into WordPress posts. Each post also has a link to play the game in full screen, which links to an HTML file (example.com/wp-content/games/scrabble/index.html).

I noticed after a backlink audit that others were linking directly to the index.html file instead of the url of the post, which I would like to prevent.

Is there an optimal way to do this? I figured there may be several ways to do this (simply blocking? creating a redirect rule based on referrer to preserve link juice for SEO?).

Any tips appreciated.

You could deploy a firewall rule to check for the referrer (-> the search will have more details) but do know, this is not fool-proof and could even block legitimate requests if not configured carefully.
