Polish WebP option funcionability

Hello. I am a CloudFlare Pro user, and I see that in Polish section we can activate the “WebP” option. I see that when activating this, CloudFlare will serve all the images in the format Webp, but when I enter on an image and change the extension to .webp it cannot be found in my server, so what does this function do really?

And if I am doing something wrong, the question is: how can I convert my images to a WEBP format? Thank you.

Polish does not change the URL for a file. It will serve a WebP image in response to a request from a device that indicates it has support for WebP. This is indicated in the Accept HTTP header. You can test with a command like this:

curl -H "Accept: image/webp" https://www.example.com/image.jpg --dump-header - -o /dev/null

Hello Michael. Thank you for your fast reply.
I have discovered that I have 2 versions of the same image: the original one and the webp as you mention:

ORIGINAL IMAGE example: https://blog.mastercoria.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/crear-correo-hotmail-outlook.png

WEBP example: https://blog.mastercoria.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/crear-correo-hotmail-outlook.png.webp

But, do you know how do I configure wordpress to show the webp version to those users who support it and the original image to those who not sopport webp?

Thank you!!

I don’t know, but this has been asked before on this Community. You will find answers using the search :search: function up there
