I would like to transfer a bunch of domains from Godaddy to Cloudflare. However, I would like to point them to my siteground DNS (ns1.siteground.net
, ns2.siteground.net
). In other words, I still want siteground to be my DNS, and I just want to use Cloudflare as my domain registrar (godaddy charges close to 20 USD per year, and Cloudflare only 8 USD per year for a .com domain).
I was hoping to set everything up before making the transfer, however I can’t find where to enter my siteground DNS addresses. Where is that setting and can it be configured before actually transferring the domain?
Thank you!
Welcome to the Cloudflare Community.
6.1 in the Domain Registration Agreement states that you cannot change the nameservers:
6.1 Nameservers . Registrant agrees to use Cloudflare’s nameservers. REGISTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES THAT IT MAY NOT CHANGE THE NAMESERVERS ON THE REGISTRAR SERVICES, AND THAT IT MUST TRANSFER TO A THIRD PARTY REGISTRAR IF IT WISHES TO CHANGE NAMESERVERS.
You’ll either need to use Cloudflare’s DNS and get a list of the required records from your host, or transfer your domain elsewhere to change the nameservers.
