Hello I’m new to cloudflare. Today I registered the domain name climatity.com with cloudflare. I did see that nameservers would be assigned but that is true with every registrar I’ve ever used. When I added ns records to point the domain to doteasy where the site is hosted, it kept the cloudflare nameservers. I’ve now read that clouldflare doesn’t allow them to be changed. Aside from the question why not??? How do I point the domain name to where the website is hosted on doteasy without changing the nameservers???
What feature, service or problem is this related to?
DNS records
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
How to question. Domain registered on cloudflare while the website is hosted on doteasy. How to point the domain name to do the website on doteasy when the primary and secondary cloudflare nameservers can’t be changed??
Cloudflare Registrar offers domains at wholesale cost price to Cloudflare users. If you don’t want to use Cloudflare for even free DNS, then you should use another registrar. Use of Cloudflare services for a domain requires the use of Cloudflare nameservers so that puts this limitation on domains registered.
Ask your host for the A/AAAA/CNAME records to point at your hosting and add those to your Cloudflare DNS.
If they require you to use their nameservers instead, then you will have to transfer the domain out of Cloudflare to another registrar. You will need to wait 60 days from registration to make a transfer as per ICANN rules.
Thank you for your reply I will contact the website host who will hopefully allow the use of A/AAAA/CNAME instead of their nameservers. Will update once I’ve spoken with them.
