Performance metrics and caching

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

Poor results and rating with Google Search Console and Core Web Vitals. Possibly slow web server?

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

For the past few months, we have done a significant amount of work on CWV for our website, but despite performance being above a 90, we still have no “good” URLs or even any “need improvement”. They all remain at “poor” month after month. Many of these changes were made well more than the recheck window.

I also wanted to look at the connection between our web server and cloudflare to determine whether that connection can be optimized. How can I tell if the webserver is not delivering a response to cloudflare as quickly as it should?

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

We’ve implemented all best practices, including brotli compression and other options within cloudflare. Is there a checklist we should follow or a mechanism we can use to determine if the webserver isn’t responding quickly enough?

May I ask how poor and how did you determine this?
Did you tested it using online tools?
By what numbers and which part of Web Vitals are we talking about?

Looks pretty fast and good to me:

From Google Search Console or? Might need some time to update and reflect.

Are you using a free or paid plan type?

Are you on a shared hosting, VPS or your own managed server?

I wasn’t sure how far into Google Analytics I should go. Here’s a link to the Core Web Vitals results on mobile for this page. It shows FCP 2.0, LCP 2.7 and speed index as 4.2.

Yes, which is why it’s so inexplicable that the page would be “poor”. What is the tool you’re using to monitor? We usually use PageSpeed Insights or GT Metrix.

No, it’s been months.

Free. We have other sites on this same server that are using the Pro plan and they are performing better (but not great). Could that be the difference?

It is our own server managed by us in a colo in Florida.
