I am trying to set up page rules that will redirect someone to my website if they just type in the domain name without www and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I’m pulling my hair out. Can anyone help me please? I’d be very, very grateful (and so would my computer before I throw it out of the window!)

Basically:

  • rule number 2 is not necessary (there is a switch in the SSL/TLS app).
  • I would have a single one page rule like the number 3, but that is missing the final $1.

So I have now changed it to this @matteo. Should that work if someone just types stephaniethomas.com without www? Does it take a while for the rules to work?

Well you do not have any DNS record on stephaniethomas.com without the www, so it will never work… You need to add something (usually the same as www.stephaniethomas.com).

OK, didn’t realise that you couldn’t do a rule around someone not typing the www. But the good news is www.stephaniethomas.com is now working so thank you so much for your help on that.

Well you can, you just need to add some IP behind that. A simple CNAME to www.stephaniethomas.com would suffice, otherwise you add the same entries that you have behind the www version.

You must have something in the DNS for that to reach Cloudflare. It would be great to have the ability to add something to DNS without actually pointing to anything if you need to do a redirect (ping @ryan and @cs-cf) and nothing else…

Well I don’t know what I’ve done but stephaniethomas.com is also working now! So thank you for your help @matteo.

It isn’t for me though… Simply add a :orange: CNAME at @ that points to www.stephaniethomas.com, that would solve everything.

Exactly like that! It just needs to be put in the DNS records and so it will hit Cloudflare.
