Likely your Cloudflare DNS record for softwarepatents.co.uk is set to a Cloudflare IP address. If you are just redirecting the hostname, replace it with a proxied AAAA record pointing to 100::
Thank you so much. I seem to have resolved the 1000 error after deleting the A records.
I’m now getting a 522 Connection timed out error saying “The initial connection between Cloudflare’s network and the origin web server timed out. As a result, the web page can not be displayed.”
You are only redirecting from *www, not the apex domain. If you want to redirect from both the domain and www, then change the URL you are redirecting from to *softwarepatents.co.uk/*.
Also…
make sure imap, pop, smtp are set to “DNS only” and not “Proxied” as Cloudflare only proxies HTTP/HTTPS traffic (unless using Cloudflare Spectrum).
your MX record and the above mail subdomains point to mail but you don’t have a DNS record for mail pointing to your mail server. That too will need to be “DNS only”.
