Hello there,

Thank you for contacting us. My name is Sherry, and I am happy to assist you today.

My sincere apologies for the delayed response time. We’re experiencing a higher than normal volume of requests and are working as quickly as possible to answer them in the order they’re received.

We appreciate your patience, and apologize for any inconvenience.

I understand that you need to remove the clientHold on your domain Jumbarthi. com to complete the transfer from Squarespace to Cloudflare. Am I correct?

I’ve reviewed your account and found that your domain [jumbarthi. Com] has expired.

Typically, you can still transfer an expired domain if it’s within the expiration grace period, which is usually 30 days.

If your domain has expired or is approaching expiration during the transfer process, we recommend reaching out to your current domain provider to confirm that it’s safe to proceed with the transfer before you begin.

For more information, please visit this guide below:

Moreover, we have a step-by-step guide on transferring your domain away from Squarespace here:

If there are any more questions or if further assistance is needed, please do not hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help! Wishing you a great day ahead!

Regards,

Sherine M.

That doesn’t make any sense - Squarespace is your registrar and it is they that have placed the clientHold.

The domain is showing as expiring in May 2026, so either they’ve renewed it and are waiting for you to pay, or you have renewed it and the clientHold from the expiry event needs to be manually cleared.

Whatever the reason, only Squarespace can remove their clientHold so the domain resolves and then Cloudflare can see the nameservers are set.

Since they have already said to proceed can we proceed with Domain transfer without considering clienthold ?

No.

The domain is currently banned, and you need to get that ban lifted before you can transfer it to Cloudflare.

When is the last time you paid for domain renewal? If the domain has expired, you need to renew it before you can transfer it to Cloudflare.

I have paid it to Google Domains and google domains moved to squarespace so my subscription continued till may 18th 2025 after that it is expired and i didn;t renew it , I have been trying to move it to cloudflare

You can’t transfer it to Cloudflare until you have renewed it.

Be careful though, if you transfer it to quickly after renewing, you will pay for two years but only get one, so you need to wait ~45 days I believe.

You’re not trying to transfer a domain, you’re trying to change it’s nameservers.

The domain is/was expired. You need to resolve that with your existing registrar.

The domain is also on a clientHold… if renewing the expired domain doesn’t clear that flag you will need to still address it before you can change your nameservers to Cloudflare successfully.

Do I have to pay squarespace or cloudflare ? they are okay to transfer the domain and domain is in grace period so it’s in window time to transfer square space is okay nameservers are already updated I checked it on ICANN it’s cloudflare nameservers only issue is with cloudflare not able to verify ownership due to clienthold if we ignore that then domain transfer will be successful I guess

The clientHold cannot be ignored. Renew the domain with Squarespace. Your domain cannot go active on Cloudflare, and so also cannot be transferred to Cloudflare Registrar, while the clientHold is in place.

Pay your current registrar. There’s zero value to having Cloudflare as a registrar, but if you really want them to be your registrar, move to them after you secure your existing expired asset from deletion/removal.

SquareSpace saying that it is okay to move expired domain to cloudflare they are saying whenever they get request from cloudflare regarding domain Transfer they will provide approve it. I also got auth code to transfer from square space

None of that changes these facts…

Just renew the domain with Squarespace, then, and only then, can you start to move to Cloudflare.

Cloudflare is a shite registrar. Renew your domain where it sits lest you lose an asset you apparently value. Once renewed if you want to risk it with a low budget outfit you can transfer the domain to Cloudflare’s questionable ‘service’.

I have renewed my domain and it is good for till next year. what’s difference between the squarespace and cloudflare

I have renewed my domain and it is good for till next year. what’s difference between the squarespace and cloudflare. If i moved to cloudflare now then next year where do i have to renew it ? who owns my own domain as a domain provider and registrar

You’d renew it at cloudflare. The main difference is Cloudflare Registrar is an at-cost registrar, what we pay for a domain or renewal is what you pay. Squarespace is like most registrars, what you pay is what they pay + a markup.

So once I moved to clloudflare I will be renewing it and managing it cloudflare itselft. no need of sqaurespace anymore since it is active and valid , do i have to pay for cloudflare again ? i just domain dns no website hosting

Cloudflare sits between your site and visitors to your site, you’ll still need to have the site hosted somewhere, is squarspace your hosting provider?
