Override Wildcard DNS for certain subdomain

I’m trying to use DNS only on a single subdomain while keeping the proxied wildcard entry for all other subdomains. I thought it would be as easy as adding a separate CNAME or A record for that subdomain, but it doesn’t seem to work.

Entry I have that works:
*.example.xyz

Once I add a record for:
sub.example.xyz

That subdomain stops resolving. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

That’s odd. An explicit record should trump a wildcard.

Are you also proxying the explicit subdomain?

I’m not proxying the explicit subdomain. It’s for a filerun instance, and I want to be able to bypass the proxy upload limit.

It may be an issue somewhere else along the chain. Now that I know that it should work, I’ll have to keep looking into my reverse proxy config to see if the issue is there.
