Nslookup gives out incomplete records at random

Hi!

I have a VPS rented on Hetzner and a domain registered on name.com. The only NS records on name.com are Cloudflare’s and everything DNS-related I’ve got lives on Cloudflare. Whenever I try nslookup for box.zabolot.in I get either no records, or both A and AAAA records, or either A or AAAA record. It seems like it returns those values at random. I’ve set all records to DNS only.

This is what I get when I do nslookup for box.zabolot.in within 1 minute on one machine

Server: one.one.one.one
Address: 1.1.1.1
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: box.zabolot.in
Address: 91.107.200.222

I host mailinabox on that VPS and it too shows similar behavior on its admin tab. I do not use built-in DNS for the mailinabox though, as I can’t add certain records there, that would allow email to work correctly.

Alongside box.zabolot.in domain I also have A and AAAA records for zabolot.in saved on Cloudflare, but nslookup zabolot.in returns only

Server: one.one.one.one
Address: 1.1.1.1
*** one.one.one.one can't find zabolot.in: Server failed

I’m not sure what I could set up incorrectly. Could you please give some advice on this? Or this may be related to some issue on Cloudflare side?

And what is your domain? I assume box.zabolot is just a placeholder.

My main domain is zabolot.in. box.zabolot.in is just a subdomain needed for proper mailinabox operation.

zabolot is not a domain. What is your actual domain? zabolot.com? zabolot.org?

zabolot.in is a domain though. Here’s name.com whois lookup WhoIs Lookup | Name.com

You need to fix your DNSSEC configuration by updating the DS record at your registrar with the value provided by Cloudflare.

That’s exactly what was the issue. Thanks!
