Not Receiving Emails On New Server After Disabling Email Routing

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

After setting up DNS records to receive email at Fastmail and disabling Cloudflare Email Routing, emails aren’t delivered anymore

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I’ve followed Fastmail’s setup instructions, and their DNS checking tool confirms my MX, DKIM and SPF settings are correct.
Then, I’ve removed all DNS records related to Cloudflare Email Routing, the mta-sts worker and the email rules as well as the destination addresses.

Everything’s set up the way it’s supposed to be. I’ve carefully checked the settings many times.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

When I send an email to myself (an address at the domain in question) it never arrives. But when I reinstate the Cloudflare Email Routing setup, the email will eventually be delivered.
It seems as if there’s a residual bit of config, which I can’t see and remove, preventing emails to be delivered to the Fastmail servers.

I have another domain pointing to Fastmail (DNS configured with Cloudflare, too), which is working perfectly fine. The only difference being I’ve never had Cloudflare Email Routing set up for this other domain.

MX records are set for your domain…

If they are correct and you are having mail problems then you will need to contact your mail provider.

Thanks, I didn’t know about the DNS checking tool. That’ll come in handy at times for sure.

Everything started working about 14 hours after switching over. So, I have to wonder if it was simply a case of slow (I know, it’s well within 48 hours; I just never had to wait this long) DNS propagation.
