No access to local AU edge servers

#1

Could anyone explain to me why, after upgrading to Pro, that my Australian based origin server in Sydney is now over 170ms away?

I live near Brisbane, which has an edge server, so I was expecting 10ms access for myself and most other Australians but that is not the case…

How long ago did you upgrade to Pro ?

In the past CF reserves AU POP to business+ plans due to cost of Aussie bandwidth maybe due to peering costs with some ISPs i.e. Telstra - expensive as you know. But I have always had my CF Pro plan site hit AU POP when accessed via Sydney VPN or Brisbane VPN.

Your site via my Sydney VPN also hits AU POP for me

from my Brisbane VPN I also hit CF Sydney Edge POP

Not sure what criteria CF uses though as to whether you hit they AU POP.

If you use Nginx on your origin, you can do custom logging of CF to origin requests to see which data centers CF communicates with your origins https://community.centminmod.com/threads/cloudflare-custom-nginx-logging.14790/

Thanks George, it’s just under 24 hours since I upgraded this domain to the Pro plan. So it seems I would have to upgrade to the Business+ plan before I could see access from Telstra clients (most Australians) to local AU Cloudflare edges servers?

Should I submit a support ticket to absolutely confirm this in 2018?

Thanks for the link to tips about custom nginx logging. I will definitely take advantage of that.

Yeah ask CF tech support to confirm things
