Nginx ssl creation problems

I am new to this so please be gentle.
When running nginx on UNRAID I am trying to create a ssl from lets encrypt.
I receive a notice from nginx of “internal error”.
I have read on line that it can be caused by the Cloudflare proxy.

Question 1: has anyone else seen this issue and is it connected to the A record proxy?
Question 2: I have a static IP from my internet provider so do I need an A record that points to a proxy at all?

Do you have any other logs other than “internal error”?

Which verification method were you using with Let’s Encrypt?
