Nginx rewrite configuration

I’m trying to redirect my page to a mobile URL like m.mysite.com. What I’m trying:

  • I define the redirection in the Nginx sites-available like:

  • I define a CNAME in Cloudflare to the URL that I want to be redirected.

But when I enter a Mobile like an android it shows me DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN and with curl I get curl: (6) Could not resolve host: m.example.com)

You didn’t post the hostname, so we can’t test it, but this is usually what I use:

The error you mentioned is usually due to the DNS record not being present, but they shouldn’t take any time at all to show up on a domain that’s been using Cloudflare for a while.

Thanks for the reply sdayman the url is test.whetu.org and the mobile version should be m.whetu.org

When I visit ‘test’ with mobile, it redirects to ‘m’, but then redirects to http, then https, and so on. Stuck in a redirect loop.

So what should I do, define a server to mobile in the nginx configuration file?

Change that last rewrite to m. to an https instead of http.

Ok just changed the m. from http to https, I need to wait until the changes are spread?

Now it just redirects to itself. You’re going to need some additional logic to make sure the hostname isn’t already the ‘m’ version. You’ll probably find more info over at stackoverflow.com, as it’s not a Cloudflare issue.
