What domain and/or TLD are we talking about?
Some TLD do not actually extend the expiration up on transferring.
For ICANN related domains, there are for example also some limitations, such as if a domain was just renewed during auto redemption period, and then transferred, which is explained under “My domain’s registration was not extended by one year after transferring to Cloudflare”:

Transferred from NameCheap. On March 18th and completed transfer in 10 minutes (fast transfer)
Can you share the domain name?
Or, if you are somehow uncomfortable with that, then at least the TLD (e.g. com/net/org/[…]) of it?
