Hi, I’ve setup a mailbox in namecheap (privateemail) and need smtp to connect to Instantly.
I’ve changed the nameservers and connected the domain, which looks like it’s been setup correctly because cloudflare is saying the site is now protected.
The next step is to create a custom address and verification address - this is where I’m stuck - what does this mean? I’ve already setup a custom mailbox in namecheap.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Maggie
If you’re not using Namecheap DNS with Private Email but third-party (like Cloudflare) you need to following this guide
Many thanks, I’ll set these records up now.
When I come back to cloudflare to continue setup, what is the difference between the custom email address and the destination (verification) address please?
Maggie
Are you trying to set up Email Routing as well? That won’t work. You either use Email Routing from Cloudflare or Private Email from Namecheap, not both.
I have no idea, cloudflare is asking me for these details when going through setup. Maybe it’s because I haven’t set upt the records correctly in the first place. I’ll give it a go now and see what happens. Many thanks!
Hi again. All records have been setup, however, the SRV record has an alert with the message
‘This record exposes the IP address used in the CNAME record on autoconfig.thesboagency dot com, which you have proxied through Cloudflare.’
Have I done something wrong here?
Many thanks!
This means you have a record (e.g. example.com
) pointing to an IP address (e.g. 1.2.3.4
) which is proxied , and another record (e.g.
sub.example.com
) point to the same IP address that is not proxied (DNS only .)

Hmmm, I don’t really understand the tutorial sorry - how can I tell which one is causing the issue and what can I do about it? I really appreciate all your help here
Can I just delete the SRV record or do I need it?
Many thanks
Based on the documentation linked above, it appears the SRV
is optional. In fact, you can remove all the CNAME
records as they are optional. Only the MX
and TXT
records are required.
Perfect, many thanks for your assistance today - you’ve been a great help!
Much appreciated
