What is the issue you’re encountering
DNS Propagation Checker shows cloudflare proxied IPs instead of new unproxied IP
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
I’ve updated the A record in Cloudflare DNS to point to a new server IP address, but it’s been over [insert time period] and the site is still not loading the new version. I’ve followed all the typical steps, but nothing seems to be working.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
Updated the A record with the new IP in the Cloudflare dashboard
Verified that the record is correct (double-checked the IP)
Cleared browser cache
Purged everything in Cloudflare Cache > Purge Everything
Tried turning the orange cloud off (DNS only) to bypass Cloudflare proxy
Waited for DNS propagation (it’s been [insert time frame] since the change)
Verified with dig, nslookup, and other tools that the IP still hasn’t updated globally
My Setup:
Domain registrar: GoDaddy
Nameservers are set to Cloudflare
Using Cloudflare just for DNS and proxy (not using Workers or custom rules)
Hosting a website that was recently moved to a new server with a different IP
My Questions:
Why might Cloudflare still be serving the old IP despite purging the cache and updating the record?
Is there a deeper level of caching (e.g., edge cache or resolver cache) I can force to refresh?
Is there a delay specific to the proxy layer that I’m overlooking?
Anything else I can check to make sure the new IP is properly used across Cloudflare’s network?
I submitted a support ticket, but the automated response suggested posting here for help. Would appreciate any insights from the community.
Thanks,
Stephanie
