Hi Cloudflare Community!
We’re excited to announce that DNS Validation is now live for Cloudflare Rules in the dashboard! This update tackles one of the biggest sources of community threads and support tickets, especially for newer users.
What’s new?
When you create or edit a rule that targets a hostname or URL, the UI now automatically checks if the DNS record or Cloudflare for SaaS custom hostname is properly configured and proxied.
Here’s what you can expect:
- DNS & Custom Hostname Validation: Our system verifies if the relevant DNS record or custom hostname exists and is correctly proxied before you deploy your rule. (Note: Wildcards in hostnames are currently supported only in specific cases — we’ll improve this in future updates.)
- Proactive Warnings: If any DNS issues are detected (missing or misconfigured records), the UI will provide a clear warning, helping you fix problems before deploying rules that won’t work. No more guesswork or unexpected rule failures!
This update is designed to make the rule deployment process smoother and more user-friendly, reducing errors and saving time. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting started, this improvement helps ensure you don’t run into DNS configuration roadblocks.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates, and as always, we welcome your feedback!
