A few months ago, I was experimenting with using Cloudflare’s domain name servers. After setting up a simple account with a secure password (or so I thought) and delegating the domain to Cloudflare’s servers, I promptly forgot about it for months. Upon coming back, my account didn’t seem to exist, so I created a new one and added my domain. However, when I did, there were many records pointing to a set of unfamiliar IPs. I have switched back to my registrar’s servers, deleted the records, and parked the domain. Should I be concerned? Is there more I should do?
It was likely you imported DNS records and those were Cloudflare IP addresses as your records were proxied in the previous account.
You can check your audit log to see who set up what and when…
