Are you getting the error subdomain too deep?
ACM is what you need
A simple 
for subdomain too deep, taking way less than 4 minutes, and way less than 12 hours would have found that.
If you want to protect the example part of example.yourdomain.com you can do that without ACM, If you want to support example2 part of example2.example.yourdomain.com, you need ACM
