Cloudflare dashboard still shows “Invalid nameservers” 20+ hours after I updated nameservers to the assigned values (abby/ns.cloudflare.com, nick/ns.cloudflare.com) at GoDaddy. Verified with who.is, DNSSEC is off. Need help confirming if zone is stuck.
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
I updated my nameservers for playboox.com to the Cloudflare-assigned ones (abby.ns.cloudflare.com, nick.ns.cloudflare.com) more than 20 hours ago. I’ve verified the change at GoDaddy and confirmed it’s live on who.is.
However, the Cloudflare dashboard still shows “Invalid nameservers,” so I can’t:
I partially see abby & nick trying to propagate, DNS Propagation Checker - Global DNS Testing Tool. I also see the zone as pending in one account, purged from another, and not in the account you are using here at all. Neither of the accounts have abby & nick as the assigned nameservers.
Thanks for the responses — here’s a screenshot from the DNS tab of the account I’m logged into.
As shown, playboox.com is still showing “Pending” and “Invalid nameservers,” even though the domain is pointed to abby.ns.cloudflare.com and nick.ns.cloudflare.com.
This confirms that:
I’m in the correct Cloudflare account
The zone is not showing as active
Nameservers are propagating publicly via who.is and global DNS checkers
DNSSEC is off
Let me know if this helps confirm it’s stuck and can be manually refreshed or re-linked.
The screenshot is not from the account you are using here. Tagging @daniel115 fyi
If you scroll down on the dns page in the account from where you shared that image, the nameservers show as
jacob.ns.cloudflare.com
yolanda.ns.cloudflare.com
I think the next step is to identify the login for the account where the site is pending, verify the nameservers are jacob & yolanda, ask godaddy to change the nameservers to just those two, and also ask godaddy how to remove the icann holds @sdayman mentioned.
The reason for the mismatch is that I can’t access the email tied to my original Cloudflare account (d__________m), so I posted here using a backup Ymail account.
The original domain setup was tied to: abby.ns.cloudflare.com nick.ns.cloudflare.com
vbnet
Copy
Edit
Those nameservers are still what GoDaddy is pointing to, and that’s the zone I’m trying to activate and restore.
The screenshot I shared earlier (with jacob/yolanda) is from this backup account, so that’s why the records don’t match.
Let me know if there’s a way to reclaim or re-verify the original abby/nick zone.
Internally, I don’t show those nameservers as ever active for that domain. Externally, I am not seeing that, either, create a free securitytrails account to view this history, https://securitytrails.com/domain/playboox.com/history/ns
It may have been that you added it to a different account with abby & nick but it never became active in the account, hence why I don’t show it in my systems and security trails does not have the record of them. The same icann holds mentioned above may have prevent that propagation. How long ago were you using that account (just curious, not sure it matters much in terms of next steps as we don’t see the record of it internally).
If you cannot access that email, the only option you have is to add the domain to a new account, like the one you are using here, and change the nameservers to the two that get assigned and then have godaddy make the change and remove the holds.
Thanks for the clarification — here’s a screenshot showing that I’ve now updated the nameservers at GoDaddy to match the assigned values for this Cloudflare account:
