My website was showing up - not resolving the IP

What is the name of the domain?

technologypark com

What is the error number?

N/A

What is the error message?

Server not found

What is the issue you’re encountering

somehow the website that was showing up suddenly is not being found

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I have several sites on Cloudlfare and when I saw my site was down / server not found, i looked on sites such as nslookup and did not see A records. Briefly I changed the name server to my old one but that did not seem to help (at least in the short run) and brought it back to Cloudflare’s name servers. I did see it has A record with my correct ip there. After some time I thought it would help if I put A record with ip also on my domain registrar and left it there from yesterday afternoon to this morning but it was still showing server not found. I saw on whatsmydns site that it was not propagated at all. Then I realized that Cloudflare masks real ips and so having real ip on the registrar’s dns setting would create a conflict. So I removed it and briefly it seemed that it was showing progress and and was showing A records on some locations. However an hour or two later an now it shows no progress in propagating at all. I also checked DNS records on my hosts DNS setting. Strangely, it still had the old name servers in the A records. Althought this did not matter before, I thought it maybe best to remove these so as not to create a conflict with the Cloudflare. My other domains I checked do not have any A records on the hosting company. So I am at a loss as to what I should do.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

you can check my website technologyparkcom for A record propagation. Something is not working. Looking for help. I will add this to my exisiting ticket but would appreciate faster help since it is impacting my emails.

Keep your domain paused on CF. As of now, there’s a issue with the DNS configuration from Registrar’s end. You need to contact them to fix this issue. Once the DNS is configured for the said domain, continue to configure on CF.

Thanks. How do I pause it?

Okay i did pause it.

I don’t see any problem at registrar. Both name servers of CF are there. and text string of spf recommended by google

Yatin

Once I pause it and if I change name servers to my hosting company, essentially I will detach myself from CF correct? I am tired of waiting for CF support while my email is down.

Once I do that, can I use another firewall within Wordpress that can provide protection?

Yatin

Only thing different at the registrar is that in addition to the nameserver I have spf string recommended by Google. And CF also has an spf string that it created. I think one can have only one spf string. Could this be creating a conflict in A record propagation?

include: and plus are replaceable?

And how do I combine these into one and put it in CF?
CF has: “v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:162.214.196.227 +ip4:162.214.227.204 ~all”
Google suggested: “v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all”

Sorry for breaking it up into three posts - this stupid app kept complaining that I can only put 4 links in a post - even though there is no link here.

Should the combined spf be
“v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com +a +mx +ip4:162.214.196.227 +ip4:162.214.227.204 ~all”
plus and include: are same?

Hey @Neiljay:

Thanks for your help. My moniker has a buggy interface - even though i had removed their standard name servers with CF and it showed these in the DNS record on the side at the bottom they still showed their own name servers. I rememeber now that actually you have to do it couple of times because the actual name server sticks. And I was about to give up and go back to the name servers on the hosting site when I noticed that they had not switched to the CF name servers. Once I did this, now I see it now propagating slowly.
