My website host asked me to change the new Cloudfare server names

Hi, last week Cloudflare helped me to authenticate my domain. One necessary thing was changing the name servers names. Now, I can send emails again on ActiveCampaign. However, now my website isn’t working. The website host indicated that I needed to change the name servers back to what they were. However, if I do that I think that it will interfere with the authentication of my domain.

Can you please assist?
Dr. Arlayn~

Yes, that will interfere with your email.

You need to make the settings for your email and your website in the same Cloudflare account. If your host controls the account your website is active in, they also need to add the records for your email.

Or you need to ask your host what the necessary records for your website are and add them to your account.

My emails are working fine.

However, if you pull up my website, there is an error message. The website host said thatI had to change the name server names back to what they were before I changed them in the Registrar to what Cloudflare had me change them to. Can I provide the name server names to Cloudflare and maintain the authentication of my domain?

If you change your nameservers back, then the records for ActiveCampaign (isn’t that email?) will no longer work.

If you want your host to manage Cloudflare for you, change the nameservers back to theirs and tell them to add the DNS records for ActiveCampaign to their account.

If you want to manage Cloudflare yourself, ask your host what records you should create/update to make your website work and add these to your account.

Yes, my apologies. ActiveCampaign is for email; and I need to be able to continue sending them.

I can manage Cloudflare myself (I think). They provided other name servers and indicated that I need to use them for the website to work. How do I proceed from here?

Hi @arlayn

Please see our documentation for Error 1000: DNS points to prohibited IP

The IP’s used in your DNS records are all Cloudflare IP’s. This is not the IP’s given by your hosting provider. You need to see at the DNS records that are given at your hosting provider. The IP’s you see there in the A and AAAA records are the once you also need to have in the DNS records in your Cloudlfare account.
